A storm of red jets, blue gas, and orange dust in the Serpens Nebula reveals newborn stars shaping their environment in one shared direction.

This proposal resolves the reserve candidate in favour of Serpens, which fits the requested 2024 to early 2026 time window more cleanly than MACS0416 while still delivering strong colour, visual energy, and scientific interest.

Serpens Nebula is one of the strongest recent JWST candidates for a dynamic, modern space print. The image feels alive with motion: red shock fronts, blue gas, orange dust, and bright stars arranged in a composition that is both chaotic and strangely ordered.

NASA's release focuses on a remarkable discovery in Serpens North, where astronomers found a group of protostellar outflows aligned in the same direction. The red clumpy streaks in the image trace shock waves where jets from newborn stars collide with surrounding gas and dust. It is a scientifically important image, but also an unusually vivid and immediately engaging one.
